Job Title: Technical Officer

Reporting to: The Executive Secretary

Location: Geita

1. Background Information and Job Summary

The Foundation for ASM Development (FADev) is an independent non-governmental organization (NGO) registered in the United Republic of Tanzania. We are committed to advancing responsible and sustainable practices in Artisanal and Small-scale Mining (ASM) while empowering miners with essential life skills. FADev is currently seeking a qualified Technical Officer to join our team. The Technical Officer will play a crucial role in providing technical support to ASM groups. This includes designing, developing, and overseeing intervention projects aimed at assisting and formalizing Artisanal and Small-scale mining operations. In addition to supporting ASM groups, the Technical Officer will collaborate closely with the Executive Secretary and other team members to develop proposals and fundraising initiatives in partnership with key stakeholders in the ASM sector, aligning with FADev's strategic goals.

2. Required Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

• Interested candidates should meet the following criteria:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing, or Geology. Postgraduate qualifications will be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the mining sector with a comprehensive understanding of Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining Operations.
  • Proficiency in blending technical expertise with effective communication skills and decision-making capabilities in the field.
  • Strong multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in English and Kiswahili languages.
  • Above-average knowledge of various social media platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
